How do you measure hectares of sustainable land and water management?

The hectares of sustainable land and water management represent the measurement of area, of land or bodies of water, under sustainable management practices due to the financing of a project through GoParity's platform. Here we consider: area of land which has been reforested, area of land or sea under biodiversity protection, area of sustainable agriculture and area of sustainable marine production. The amount of hectares affected by a project are summed up.

An example can be the Reforesting Belver projects with aimed to reforest an area of 600 hectares which had been previously destroyed by wood fires in the south of Portugal. Beyond reforestation the area would also go under sustainable management practices and maintenance by the local communities.

We pool metrics from GoParity's previous projects for 5 main impact indicator groups and display them on our 'impact page' as a key measure of success and growth.

We measure the impact of an individual investor by calculating:

total invested by the investor * total hectares of land and water under sustainable management / total investment in the campaign

For a project financed at $50,000 and with an affected area of 200 hectares, given that an investor invested $50, the conversion would be:

 50* 200 / 50,000 = 0.20 hectares affected
